Microsoft introduces new features for Windows 11, with Notepad getting a special focus. The business began integrating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with the Windows operating system last year. On Windows 11, Copilot is available as a chatbot and as an add-on for programs like Paint, Photos, Clipchamp, and others. Notepad will now get access to more AI features as part of the Windows App Store. A slight increase is also being made in the sniping tool.
Dave Grochocki, principal product manager of Windows Inbox apps at Microsoft, announced the new Windows 11 features via the Windows Insider blog. The lightweight Notepad app (version 11.2401.25.0) is getting a new feature called Explain with CoPilot, which will help users understand the content in the file.
Upon selection, it will summarize and interpret the highlighted log files, code segments or any selected content. Users can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + E to quickly boot Copilot. To use this feature, users only need to highlight a section of text in the app and right-click to bring up the choices menu. It will summarize and understand the highlighted code segments, log files, or any other content that is selected. To start Copilot quickly, users can alternatively utilize the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + E.
Users who left comments via the Win+F keyboard shortcut received an email from Grouchoki stating, “This feature is available on devices that have CoPilot in Windows, but there is a known issue where some users “You may not see this new feature in Notepad immediately,” an announcement said. Said they were asking.
Snipping Tool already has AI capabilities. Users can use screenshot photos to automatically eliminate sensitive text with it. However, it can now include forms in screenshots. After receiving a capture, users can use the New Size button in the toolbar to choose the relevant size inside the image. Users can add rectangles, ovals, lines, and arrows to better annotate text and image parts. The size, position, and color of the forms can all be changed. These features are available to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels of Windows 11.
The next significant feature upgrade to be released this year is Windows 11 24H2, which the tech giant also confirmed recently. An advanced co-pilot is expected in the upcoming version. For better gaming performance, Microsoft may include its Super Resolution technology similar to DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) in a future Windows 11 24H2 update. The technology uses AI to make compatible games run more smoothly and at higher framerates.
